It's been an unusually quiet year for Mavin Records. This year has been pretty dull for mainstream Nigerian music. While the alternative scene is brimming with talent, the mainstream has been hit with a lethargy not seen in recent times. Wizkid  is foreign based.  Davido  is trying to play catch up.  Tekno  and  Runtown  who had great runs in 2016 have so far unimpressed with relatively lukewarm releases. In the other half of the year, we have not had a whiff of a breaking act. And more importantly, the biggest record label in the land Mavin Records is missing in action. The Don Jazzy led imprint made up of Queen Tiwa Savage  and starlets  Reekado Banks , Korede Bello  and others has not dominated the dance floors and parties as it has done in recent years. For a while now Bakare Mubarak has been feeling fly about himself with the record of the tallest male model in Nigeria and ultimately making him seem to be the tallest man in the country. His bubble bursted when he actually met the tallest man in Nigeria. Agoro The tallest Man in Nigeria is about 7 inches taller than Bakare, as he is 7'4 while Bakare is 6'8. It looks like another scandal just hit the music industry and it's YCee vs Sony Music West Africa. Here's what happened! Back in October 2016, as part of Sony Music Entertainment’s expansion across Africa, the label announced that it had signed an exclusive deal with Ycee, who also confirmed it via Instagram. Well that deal has supoosedly now gone bad and YCee is calling them out. Was it another contract that wasn't understood properly before it was signed or some parts of the agreement were not met? A few hours ago, a snap chat video of Michael Owusu Addo AKA Small doctor appeared on the social media space and the video is threatening to eclipse his entire career in the coming days.  In the video Small Doctor was seen stroking his manwhood but it is not clear if he was getting ready to engage in sex or was just resulting to self-help. The question is how did the video get to the internet? President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that he would no longer accept insults from Nigerians, warning that those calling for restructuring, must exercise restraint in their choice of words. Buhari who stated this through Mallam Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, on Wednesday night, said issues are resolved through “established processes, not by abuses, insults, or irresponsible statements’’. Shehu was reacting to opinions expressed by Nigerians, for and against President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech on Monday, on his return from a medical vacation. “Since the President has sworn to defend the Constitution, he will remain faithful to that oath, by working with the Legislature in taking major decisions on the future of Nigeria’s federal system,” Shehu said. The President and founder of Dangote Foundation, Aliko Dangote is set to establish a N200 billion world-class university in Abuja, the country's capital. According to reports, the proposal has been delivered to the National Universities Commission, NUC. A former Executive Secretary of the NUC, Julius Okojie , who is the chairman of the technical team for the establishment of the university, said the foundation intends to drive technology and research in stimulating economic growth. He also said the proposed university will be technology-driven and asked for the cooperation and support of the NUC towards the realisation of the goal. The leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has banned the use of compulsory uniforms also known as Aso Ebi worn at church functions. According to Tribune, wife of the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Foluke Adeboye, disclosed this yesterday, when she spoke at the church's women’s meeting, which was part of the activities of its 65th annual convention of the church themed “Halleluyah”. Pastor Mrs Adeboye described as ungodly acts by some church leaders to compel their members to buy and wear a particular uniform aka Aso ebi during any church function.
